There are many things that may cause an ATV to start but not stay started along with other symptoms that may seem like a dirty carburetor but are not.

Symptoms on ATV where you should try using the bypass option below.

1. Will not start

2. Starts but will not stay started

3. Starts and will idle but once throttle is used will not stay started

4. Starts and runs but engine bogs down and will not accelerate

We recommend trying the following before anything else as this is a very easy problem/solution test that takes no more than 30 seconds.

Please review the image below and simply disconnect the kill switch from the left handlebar.

If the bypass solves the issue, the problem with the ATV is associated with the kill switch mechanism and needs to be cleaned or replaced.  Condensation may build up within the switch and cause shorting of the kill switch mechanism.  You should first take apart the kill switch and check for rust color between the contacts. You should attempt to clean the area and reinstall. If the problem still exists with the switch, the switch needs to be replaced.

We have found that on some occasions our dealers are taking apart carburetors, adjusting valves or otherwise when the solution is much easier.

If the above does not fix the problem of staying started or bogging down you should then attempt to clean the carburetor, adjust valves or check all wiring.

Thank you,
